CMP Therapeutics was founded in 2004 as a 'spin-out' from Oxford University. It is based on proof of concept studies performed by Dr Peter Strong in the MRC Immunochemistry Unit. Strong proved that chitin microparticles (CMP) are useful in the treatment of infectious and allergic diseases. The Company is exploiting the potential medical uses of CMP in preventing or treating disease by delivering CMP as microgel formulations to the mucosa of the human nose and gastrointestinal tract.
To date, CMP Therapeutics has received all its funds from Inventages Venture Capital and BioPacificVentures, who are the major shareholders.
